Stellenbosch the heart of the winelands has a myriad of interesting vineyards from the personal Boutique styled to large high output farms each with a unique and common history.

Most of the twenty more common Cultivars / Varietals from Spain Portugal France Persia and of course South Africa's unique Pinotage are grown in the area and used for single Cultivars or for blending creating a superb range of Fine Wines. Read more about this in the Viticulture and Viniculture sections in My Photo Memories.

The town of Stellenbosch is steeped in history ,  I feel one of the nice ways to show the town in photo's and on a walking tour is to start at " Die Moeder Kerk " which is situated on the eastern side of this historic town. Other buildings in this first set of photo's are linked to to the church in various ways.

Schroeder Huis shown below is the oldest remaining residence in the town and now forms part of the Museum.

The bottom end of the town boasts a large open park named " The Braak " which is surrounded by many interesting buildings including the Krijt Huis which was the first building to have the VOC Emblem.

Stellenbosch University is famous for its Rugby Club and many of our Springbok players ( National level players ) have been members of it. The club is situated on the banks of the Eerste River which runs down the south of the town.
